Fanconi Anemia is genetic disorder that causes increased incidences of tumors and leukemia, and bone marrow failure. Dylan required a bone marrow transplant in order to survive.
“No child should have to fight for their life as Dylan and some of the other children here,” said Dylan’s mother Betsy on their Web page, Daffodils for Dylan. The mother’s pain echoed as she recounted her son’s struggle.
“He has been such a trooper and never ever once uttered the words he did to me the night before last. “ ‘I just give up!’ I have always taught my kids to never be a quitter and never give up, but I know that Dylan is so tired of fighting this battle. I pray now he is more comfortable, he has changed his mind and is more determined than ever to fight.”
Doctors were able to diminish the pressure from the ventilator Friday morning, but his fluid status is worsening and they have added an insulin drip to control his blood sugar levels.
“Tonight, my prayer is Dylan will soon be able to breathe on his own again and he will heal completely,” said Betsy.
Prayer vigils continue to be held at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Gaston every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Anyone who wishes to come in and pray for Dylan is welcome. To follow Moore’s fight with Fanconi Anemia, log onto his Web site at www.caringbridge.org/visit/dylanmoore.
