HAMPTON, Va. — Margie Virginia Paxton, 67, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009.

She was a native of Roanoke Rapids and was a resident of Hampton for 46 years. Margie was a teacher’s aid with the Hampton School System with 13 years of service. She was a member of Providence Free Will Baptist Church.

Margie was preceded in rest by her parents, Alfred and Elizabeth Ferguson; and her grandsons, Benjamin and Jacob Paxton.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Jerry Paxton; her son, Jerry Paxton Jr. and his wife, Michelle; her daughter, Susan Barba and her husband, Billy; her grandchildren, Allen, Alicia and Ryan; her mom, Phyllis Ferguson; her brothers, Al Ferguson and his wife, Lynn, and Mike Ferguson and his wife, Susan; her twin sister, Margaret Smith and her husband, Buddy; her sisters, Linda Hardison and her husband, Horace, and Evelyn May and her husband, Bland; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., today, July 16, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, which is handling the arrangements. 

A celebration of Margie’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 17, at Providence Free Will Baptist Church, 731 Little Back River Road in Hampton. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
