ROANOKE RAPIDS — Liquor not money seemed to be the target in the wee hours of Thursday morning in Roanoke Rapids.

The Halifax County ABC Liquor Store #10, on Julian Allsbrook Highway, was broken into about 2 a.m.

Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Jeff Hinton confirms, “Officers were on a routine patrol when they heard an alarm coming from the store, where they found the front glass shattered.”

An undetermined amount of alcohol was missing, no cash was taken; however, about $500 of damage was done to the business.

Hinton also said it is unknown how many assailants were involved.

The break-in remains under investigation.
