Jack Edward Foster LAKE GASTON — Jack Edward Foster, 82, of Lake Gaston, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids. Mr. Foster was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Spartanburg, S.C., to the late Virgil Parker and Fannie Hanes Foster. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Johnnie Katherine Kennedy Foster, who died July 15, 2004; a son, John Edward Foster; a daughter, Pamela Sue Foster; and a brother, Ret. Col. Virgil Parker Foster Sr. of Davidson. Mr. Foster graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg. He served in the Pacific during World War II in the United States Navy. Mr. Foster retired from Montgomery Ward & Company where he was a store manager, district manager and regional rehab manager. He served on the boards of Directors of the North Carolina Merchants Association, the Lake Gaston Medical Center and the Rural Health Group. He was a former president of the Eaton Ferry Property association. Mr. Foster was a lifetime Mason of St. John 333 AFM, lifetime Hejaz Shrine Temple member and a member of the American Legion Post 308. He was an elder of Littleton Presbyterian Church. Mr. Foster is survived by his daughter, Paige Foster Lamberson and her husband, Bill Lamberson, of Littleton; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Morgan Lamberson of Littleton; a sister-in-law, Edith Brown Foster of Davidson; and a brother, Harry Foster of Monks Corner, S.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 30, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Littleton, which is handling the arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 31, at Littleton Presbyterian Church, 201 Moseby Ave., Littleton.
