EMPORIA, Va — Ruth Whitehead Taylor, 96, of Emporia, Va., passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nat Taylor; and grandson, Kevin Taylor.

She is survived by a son, Michael and his wife, Cheryl; her stepgrandson, John Scott; her niece, Nancy Love and her husband, Buddy, and son, John T. Rook; a great-niece, Mary Pair and her husband, Jimmy, and daughters, Christina and Allison Pair; and a special great-niece, Tammy Lewter.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, July 31,  at the chapel of Echols Funeral Home in Emporia, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow in Seaboard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church or to the American Red Cross.
