Sound off!

Quit whining and do something

In response to player bias on the U10 All-Stars: The team was picked by the five head coaches of the league. You know the ones who volunteered their time. No committee members voted and yes, 9-year-old kids are eligible on a U10 team. Hence the name 10 and under if you didn't understand. My suggestion to you is to stop whining in Sound off! and next year volunteer to coach a team. The rewards of coaching the kids far out weigh the outstanding pay and criticism you get from headache parents like you!

Congress in your bank account

I stopped in at my bank this morning and got an earful. Seems that this new Universal Health Care Bill has a section that will allow the government to go into your bank account and take out any money they deem that you owe them for services provided through the health care bill. Now, I think that big brother is getting a little too close. Do you want (U.S. Rep. G.K.) Butterfield and (Speaker of the House Nancy) Pelosi to have the right to go into your bank account? I think it is time to shut Congress down.

Here come the chickens

Why didn’t Halifax County Schools receive information concerning the American Recovery Reinvestment Act? The same reason all citizens are shafted when money is available to help and greedy politicians decide where they think the money is best spent. A lot of dirt is still going on, but the chickens will come home to roost.

" Quit blaming everyone you can think of for Halifax County Schools not getting the information on the ARRA when all other schools did. Ever stop to consider this is why our schools are in such bad shape......unqualified people not reading mailings in a timely manner? "

" In response to the parent complaining that 9 year olds were on the U10 All Star team......yes, there is usually a player or 2 that is on the team because of who their parents are (or grandparents) that are NOT close to being qualified for the team but please don't take away from the extremely talented 9 year olds that ARE qualified...(and no, my child didn't make the All Star team....and he shouldn't have!)
