He is survived by two daughters, Joanie G. Ferguson and her husband, Donald, and Mary Jane G. Clay and her husband, Jimmy, all of Roanoke Rapids; two sons, Darryl Garner and his wife, Gayle, and Carl Garner and his wife, Sue, all of Roanoke Rapids; a sister, Audrey Lou Allen and her husband, Joe, of Lilburn, Ga.; two brothers, Bobby Garner and his wife, Linda, of Littleton and Ben Garner and his wife, Joyce, of Henrico; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Garner of Gaston; eight grandchildren, Andrew Ferguson, Eric Clay, Brandy Jenkins, Mitch Garner and Chris Garner, all of Roanoke Rapids, Lin Garner of Greenville, Susan Everette of Rocky Mount and Elizabeth Keeter of Raleigh; nine great-grandchildren, Austin Garner, Luke Garner, Jackson Garner, Jordan Clay and Dylan Clay, all of Roanoke Rapids, Hannah Garner of Greenville and Ada Catherine Everette, Emma Everette and Anna Everette, all of Rocky Mount; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Josephine Hardy of Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 9, at Wrenn, Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home of Joanie and Donald Ferguson, 119 River Road, North, Roanoke Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, at the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Massey Family Cemetery in Greensville County, Va.
