Enfield Police Detective Randy White told the Daily Herald the death of Sherry Huntonn, 40, originally from New Hampshire, was ruled an accident.

White stated about 1 a.m. Saturday Huntonn was sitting on the westside of the railroad tracks about 50 feet from Southwest St., when she was struck by an Amtrak train headed for Rocky Mount. She was killed instantly.

Also, White said a witness stated Huntonn was severely intoxicated and although the train sounded it’s horn several times, Huntonn refused to move. When she finally did stand to move, she was  struck.

“There are no signs of foul play,” White said.

" How sad for Sherry to die that way. We knew her for years in NH and she was a member of our Girl Scout troop for many years also. We can't imagne what Jerry & Jokey are going through. Sherry was 50 not 40 as printed. She came from a nice family and a small town. "
