LITTLETON — You have only two more weekends to take a trip or two down memory lane. “Four Decades of Vinyl” is a musical revue with a magical mix of music from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s at Lakeland Theatre Company.

Director Doug Wright took great hits from bygone eras, added a little history, a touch of humor and came up with an evening of fun.

Wright and set directors Donivan Jordan and Gavin Gutterson combine live music with video to make a wonderful show. Jordan prepared for the event by videotaping front pages of the Daily Herald and Sunday Herald. The video plays continually through the performance and gives the audience a case of “I remember that.” For some comic relief and news Dan Preston with First Media Radio was added to the mix.

Lakeland’s talented singers are stellar. Every performer is a star in their own right. In this show watch out for Brady Martin. Martin’s rendition of Elvis classic, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You,” showcases Martin’s “slow Southern style” and leaves the audience wanting more. “Unchained Melody” with Larry Williams singing backup is heart stopping. “Pretty Woman” is too much fun, “Mack the Knife” is a big surprise and Frank Sinatra would be so proud of Lakeland’s version of “It Was a Very Good Year.”

“She’s got the pipes,” said an audience member as Lakeland singer Tia Bedwell took the stage. Bedwell teased and tricked through Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” Linda Ronstadt’s  “Blue Bayou” and Juice Newton’s “Angel of the Morning” is heartfelt and captivating.

Another Lakeland singer taking you down memory lane is Larry Williams with Fats Domino’s “Blueberry Hill” and Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.”

“California Dreaming” will prove to be a real treat as it won’t be the typical rendition of the Mamas and Papas. Gavin Guttersen and Donivan Jordan add their flavor to the performance. “They didn’t do that in dress rehearsal,” confessed Bedwell later. “I looked up and saw them and almost lost it. I just put a flower in front of my face and kept singing.”

So many songs, so little time yet all of them will truly entertain you and your family.

“Four Decades of Vinyl” continues Fridays and Saturdays through Aug. 29 beginning at 8 p.m. and a Sunday, Aug. 23 at 2:30 p.m. For more information call Lakeland Theatre Company at 586-3124.
