SCOTLAND NECK — Mrs. Urtie Raye Donaldson, 71, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

She was a native of Halifax County and made her home in Scotland Neck. Mrs. Donaldson was married to the late Marvin Donaldson in 1957 and they enjoyed 25 years of marriage until his death in 1982. She was a member of Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Scotland Neck and was a devoted volunteer at the Scotland Neck Recreation Center. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret Evans Neal and Joseph Gray Neal; and her sister, Maxine Neal Green.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane D. Warren and her husband, Donald, of Hobgood and Mary Jo House and her husband, Mike, of Scotland Neck; and four grandchildren, Dee Murphy, Justin Warren, Sierra House and Michael House.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, Aug. 25, at Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck, which is handling the arrangements.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with the Rev. Billy Poteat officiating.
