ROANOKE RAPIDS — Mr. Wallace Reeves Joyner Sr., 85, of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Joyner was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Halifax County, the son of the late Alfred Edward Joyner and Gertrude Barnes Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eliza Jane Gray Joyner. He was retired from Champion Paper Company and was a member of the Twin City Rifle Club.

Survivors include his children, Linda Joyner Frey and her husband, Sewell, of Oxford, Md., Vickie Joyner Siefferman and her husband, Richard, of Petersburg, Va., and Wallace R. Joyner Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Roanoke Rapids; his grandchildren, Hannah Katlin Joyner, Emily Nicole Joyner, Adam Reeves Siefferman and Sewell Frey Jr.; and a sister, Mildred Joyner Schmitt of Virginia Beach, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28, at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.

Graveside services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
