Charges keep piling up

HALIFAX — The troubles keep stacking up for 19-year-old Raymond Arbray Mills of Weldon.

First he was arrested for breaking and entering in the burglary of a Weldon clothing store. While he was being held in the county jail, investigators linked him to other crimes.

Additional charges of breaking and entering and larceny were levied against him in the theft of computers from Weldon City Schools. The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigators added robbery with a dangerous weapon to the list for Mills’ alleged link to a heist at Weldon Produce Company.

This week, as he sat in jail on bonds totaling $100,000, more trouble came his way.

Detective Sgt. Doug Pilgreen’s investigation discovered outstanding warrants for Mills’ arrest from Newport News, Va.

Thursday, Pilgreen served the warrants on Mills for failure to appear on a charge of manufacturing and distributing drugs.

Mills is now being held without bond and has an Oct. 14 court date. No other details were available on the Virginia charges.
