ROANOKE RAPIDS — Mrs. Lucille Moody Squire, 81, of Roanoke Rapids and formerly of Gaston, departed this life  Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda S. Jones (Jerome), and Carolyn S. Shearin (Linwood) of Roanoke Rapids; a stepson, James Vincent (Debra); nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Gertrude Grant (Lonnie) of Emporia, Va., Willie Lee Blunt of Portsmouth, Va., Rena Odom and Mamie Dickerson, both of Richmond, Va., and Diane Wilkes of Emporia; her brothers, Joseph Moody of Victorville, Calif., and Jeff Moody of Emporia; a daughter-in-law, Yattie Squire of Rocky Mount; her sisters-in-law, Nellie Patillo (McKinley) of Gaston and Maggie R. Squire, Rosa Mason and Sallie Roberts, all of Baltimore; and her caretaker, Doris Burgess of Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at Gaston Baptist Church in Gaston, with the Rev. Richard L. Webb officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Cofield Mortuary in Weldon is handling the arrangements.
