Mom was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Littleton, to the late Alice Faulcon Peters and James Peters. She was preceded in death by her nine siblings. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Alfred Williams Jr. on April 14, 1936, and to this blessed union, four children were born. Her eldest son, Stanford Edward Williams, also preceded her in death.

Mom lived for a brief time in Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to settling in Philadelphia in 1947. She was employed by the Campbell Soup Company. After her husband’s discharge from the United States Navy, she became a dedicated homemaker, excelled in cooking, and was best known for her coconut pineapple cakes, apple and sweet potato pies, and homemade rolls.

Mom and Daddy returned to their beloved hometown of Roanoke Rapids in 1980, where Mom remained until 1998. She then returned to Philadelphia to spend her latter years closer to her children, residing with her daughter, Emma Williams. Mom became a resident of Park Pleasant Nursing Home in November 2007, where she instantly became their “Bright and shining Light” of the residence. The staff affectionately referred to her as “Momma” and cared for her with love, respect and admiration.

Mom was a compassionate, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.

She leaves to mourn, Emma Williams, Ethel Hubbard, William Hubbard, Alfred Williams III, Dawn Machado, Lee Currie Jr., Angela Williams, Christopher Williams, Kelle Machado, Khye Machado, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., today, Oct. 1, at Robinson Funeral Home in Littleton, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct.  2, at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Littleton, with the Rev. Timothy Edwards delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Littleton.
