ROANOKE RAPIDS — Miss Calvia Mae Clary, 88, of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Rich Square Health Care Center in Rich Square.

Miss Clary was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Roanoke Rapids, the daughter of the late Louis Brandford Clary and Sallie Louise Taylor Clary.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Edwin L. Clary and Parrish Mitchell Clary; and a sister, Marcella C. Jackson. She worked for many years at J.P. Stevens and Company and was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids.

Survivors include her sisters, Doma C. Cooper of Roanoke Rapids, Mary Ann Hinson of Rocky Mount and Sylvia Davis of Sandston, Va.; a very special nephew, Andy Jackson and his wife, Brenda, of Roanoke Rapids; and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements, with Dr. Julian Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m., Saturday, prior to services at the funeral home.
