GARYSBURG — Fred Lander Prince, 67, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

 He was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Garysburg, the son of the late John and Priscilla Prince. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, in which he served honorably for 21 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, the Rev. John Prince Jr. of Raleigh and Cornelus Prince of Madison Heights, Va.; and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m., today, Friday, Oct. 9, at Coleman Funeral Home in Garysburg, which is handling the arrangements.

Graveside services will be held with the family assembling at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Garysburg, with the Rev. Dr.  Abraham Walton officiating.
