SCOTLAND NECK — Mrs. Irma Lee Harrell Harris, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.

Mrs. Harris was a native of Northampton County and grew up in the Roxobel Kelford area. She was a member of Scotland Neck United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Harris was married to Oscar in 1946 and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage. She worked at the Halifax Hosiery Mill in Scotland Neck for some 34 years until retiring in 1986. She was a devoted wife and enjoyed gardening and working in yard.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Flora Parker Harrell and William Thomas Harrell; and her sister, Florence H. Hurdle. Survivors include her husband, Oscar G. Harris of Scotland Neck; her brother, Robert Harrell and his wife, Janice, of Jackson; several nieces and nephews; along with some very special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Braxton and family. T

he family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck, which is handling the arrangements. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Baptist Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with the Rev. Roger Cope officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hobgood Academy, Athletic Department, 201 South Beech St., Hobgood NC
