GOLDSBORO — Mr. Jesse Franklin “Frank” Pittard Sr., 69, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009.

He was married to his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty Naylor Pittard, and was the son of the late Jesse and Sara Pittard of Mount Olive.

Frank was a Vietnam veteran and he worked in the N.C. State Probation and Parole System for 28 years before retiring in June, 2001 because of health problems. He was a Sunday school teacher for 35 years at Rosemary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, and was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Lions Club for 20 years. Frank enjoyed fishing, gardening, East Carolina football, traveling and spending time with family.

He was the proud father of one son and daughter-in-law, Jesse “Jay” and Gina Pittard of Goldsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Christie and David Rawlings of Jarratt, Va.; his grandchildren include Holly and Becka Lynn PIttard and Hunter and Dylan Rawlings; he leaves behind a brother, Robert Pittard and his wife, Rebecca, of Greensboro, and a sister, Brenda P. Davis and her husband, Johnny, of Mount Olive; and other relatives include beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Oct. 15, at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, which is handling the arrangements.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16, at at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Rosewood First Baptist Church Building Fund, 562 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro NC 27530 or the National Parkinson’s Association.
