Billy Sunday Ogden

ROANOKE RAPIDS — Billy Sunday Ogden, 86, of 438 Carolina St., Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ogden was born in Amherst County, Va., the son of the late Frank C. Ogden and Esther Clements Ogden. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a retired employee of Champion International in Roanoke Rapids. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe Ogden, Harold Ogden, Frank Ogden Jr. and Ralph Ogden.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Audrey Whitten Ogden; two daughters, the Rev. Wanda Ogden and Donna O. Johnson and her husband, Bill, all of Roanoke Rapids; his stepmother, Elizabeth Ogden of Amherst, Va.; five sisters, Mary Fitzgerald, Esther Stinnet and Ann Ferguson, all of Amherst, Geraldine Price of Harrisburg and Frieda Gillispie of Lynchburg, Va.; and eight brothers, Newton Ogden of Martinsville, Va., Norman Ogden of Monroe, Va., Jackie Ogden of Amherst, Cecil Ogden of Burkeville, Va., Steve Ogden, Gail Ogden and Jimmy Ogden, all of Amherst, and Gary Ogden of Madison Heights, Va.

Funeral services will be held at noon, today, Oct. 20, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. C.B. Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Wrenn, Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements.
