John Wesley ‘Frogg’ Parker Sr.

GARYSBURG — John Wesley “Frogg” Parker Sr., 56, of Garysburg, suddenly answered the Master’s call from labor unto reward Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

“Frogg,” as he was affectionately called, was born May 24, 1953, in Northampton County, to the parentage of Dorothy Mae Newsome Parker and the late Lucious Parker.

He leaves not to mourn his passing, but to reflect his fondest memories his mother, Dorothy Mae Parker of Seaboard; his wife, Laura Williams Parker of Garysburg; three children, Stacie Morning (Murray) of Tarboro, Curtis Parker and John W. Parker Jr. (Linda), all of Garysburg; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Mary Ann Brown of Georgia, Joyce Ann Parker of Florida, Marion Boone (Russell) of Jackson and Margaret Parker-Okafor (Francis) of Newark, N.J.; five aunts, Mary Jane Gatling of Pennsylvania, Dorothy Willis of New Jersey, Geneva Bowden of Suffolk, Va., Martha Cotton of Garysburg and Carrie B. Hines of Roanoke Rapids; two uncles, James Newsome of Portsmouth, Va., and Jimmy Barnes of Hampton, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, at Faison’s Funeral Home Inc. in Seaboard, which is handling the arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Deacon and Mrs. Russell and Marion Boone, 9128 N.C. Highway 305 N., Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Pernell Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Family members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on the day of the service by 1 p.m. for the processional to the church.
