RICH SQUARE — Mr. Willie Carroll Edwards, 90, died  Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.

Carroll was a native of Northampton County and was a member of Rich Square Baptist Church. Carroll served his Country in the United States Army during World War II. Carroll was a lover of the land, spending his entire life farming. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Parker Edwards; his father, James Lokie Edwards; his first wife, Helen Tant Edwards; a son, Tommie Darryl Edwards; and a brother, Julian Edwards.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Rodgers Edwards of the home; two sons, Ellis C. Edwards and his wife, Bobbie, and Barry M. Edwards and his wife, Georgene Scott, both of Raleigh; one sister, Ella Vann Stevenson of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two grandchildren, Angela Barts of Apex and Jonathan Edwards of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, at Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at Rich Square Baptist Church in Rich Square, with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square.
