ROANOKE RAPIDS — Mr. Kenneth A. Carpenter, 69, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009.

Kenneth leaves treasured memories with his nieces and nephews, James Powell, Kenneth Lewter Sr. (Mary), Dennis Lewter, Marsha Morgan (Ray), Ronald Lewter (Rhonda), William Miles (Sarah), Woodrow Miles Jr., Phillip Miles (Virginia), George Miles (Teresa), Minister Michael Miles (Helena), Alice M. Turner (Ronald), Vivian Hockaday, Sandra Jenkins, Christine Jenkins, Patricia Jenkins, the Rev. William Powell Jr. (Barbara), Freddie Carpenter Jr. (Valencia), Kimberly Carpenter and Keith Carpenter; two sisters-in-law, Ann Powell and Shelia Carpenter; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at Quankey Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, with the  Rev. Joseph L. Battle officiating.

Cofield Mortuary in Weldon is handling the arrangements.
