ROANOKE RAPIDS — Joyce Whitaker, 59, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

She is survived by her husband, Nino L. Whitaker of the home; her children, Cheryl Brown of Durham and Ramond Davis of the home; her grandchildren, Kelvin, KeShawn and Ke’Aria; four sisters, Brenda Evans of Eden, Vickie Harris (Calvin) of Richmond, Va., Sandra Kidd (Barry) of Newport News, Va., and  Patricia Small (Kenneth) of Washington; and three brothers, David Clark (Lisa) of Durham, Johnny Clark (Gwendolyn) of Eden and Jermone Clark of Weldon.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Cofield Mortuary in Weldon, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, at St. Peters Baptist Church in Weldon, with the Rev. Albert E. Clark Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
