Sound off! 10/22/09 Thanks for the series Thanks to The Daily Herald for printing about the theater. Looks like a lot of shady deals were done so folks, wake up.
Win car? I rode up The Avenue and in front of Victory Baptist Church there was a sign “Win this Car.” Don’t these good Christian people know that is gambling? I don’t care what they call it, but a sin is a sin. But their belief once saved, always saved will let them get by with it. I would not like to be in their shoes. Congress errors, again On Sunday, I read where the U. S. Senate voted to close the Yucca Mountain site (in Nevada) to any storage of spent nuclear fuels. The government has been working on Yucca Mountain for more the 20 years and spent some $20 billion with a B. It has been known for the entire time of the project that it is was located in a highly active earthquake fault zone but they went ahead anyway. I am sure some senator or congressman with power pushed this through and kept if going. Now we have a $20-billion hole in the ground. You might say they put $20 billion down a hole. Now they are funding a new commission to find a new place to house these waste materials. Our Congress at work. Warning I am the person who reported the extortion case of the 83-year-old woman who was extorted for $117,000 … I am the person who reported that … The person who I believe took the money used her church position to gain the woman’s confidence and take her money … Please check the records of your elderly relative’s bank accounts and make sure they have not been taken. Wake up We are letting the glamour and greed of this world rob us of the glory of God. I am a sinner saved by grace. I am not perfect only forgiven. I am just asking this: Wake up America. Wake up World. God loves you. Series praise Thank you for the excellent series of reports on The Randy Parton Theatre. No one wants to be reminded of past mistakes but it is important to understand them so we may avoid them in the future. Harvest Days I was pleased the 18th annual Harvest Days was covered by The Daily Herald … What a fun event and learning experience for the entire family … I really think it should be better promoted by the county. Many people don’t know that much of what goes on is done by volunteers who donate their time, expertise and expense to make the event successful … The Roanoke River Antique Engine and Tractor Club have been a large part of Halifax Harvest Days for years. On Friday and Saturday, they have antique engines and tractors on display, they operate the sawmill, thrash peanuts, bale the hay, pull the hayride, the covered wagon and the barnyard train. On Saturday, they have an antique tractor pull … I would like to commend the Roanoke River Antique Engine and Tractor Club for a job well done and personally thank them for their contribution to Halifax Harvest Days’ success. Thoughts America, love it or leave it. |
