Our view As dusk arrives tonight and tomorrow, strangely clad youngsters and adults will be seen on Valley streets and avenues. Many of the little ones will be toting bags or plastic pumpkins as they go from door to door seeking sweet treats. It is an age-old tradition. It is Halloween. Amid all the fun and hoopla is a serious reminder — keep your children safe during the holiday. Be careful in choosing their costume. Don’t send them out into the streets alone. Monitor the treats they are given. Stick close to home, attend a community or church party or host one of your own. On the adult side, there is the even deadlier topic — if you enjoy a Halloween drink or two, don’t get behind the wheel of a car. It can be deadly for you and innocent people walking on the dark streets or just trying to drive safely home. Halloween is a holiday filled with fun for youngsters and adults. Keep it that way by using common sense and ensuring everyone has a good, safe time. |
