Patrick ‘Curley’ O’Connell Groves PHILADELPHIA, Miss. — Patrick “Curley” O’Connell Groves, 53, of Philadelphia, Miss., and fomerly or Roanoke Rapids, peacefully departed this life Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Nash Hospital in Rocky Mount. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. Groves and Adrienne C. Ivey. He is survived by his loving wife, Melody B. Groves of Philadelphia, Miss., formerly of Roanoke Rapids; his four children, Melody Poythress of Courtland, Va., Patrick O Groves Jr. of Franklin, Va., Angela G. Burton of Philadelphia, Miss., and Misty G. Pair of Gaston; three stepchildren, Bryan D. Harris and Joshua P. Harris of Roanoke Rapids and Danielle Harris of Philadelphia, Miss.; a brother, David S. Groves of Rocky Mount; his sisters, Gay G. Parrish of Seaboard and Jennifer G. Byrum of Pleasant Hill; his stepfather, “Sonny” Lloyd A. Ivey of Roanoke Rapids; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special companion, “Pete.” A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2, at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, with the Rev. Howard Kendrick and the Rev. Donald Causey officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Gay Parrish, on Highway 158 (8199 U.S. 158 Highway, Seaboard NC 27876) between Jackson and Conway. |
