ROANOKE RAPIDS — Sylvia May Estep Farr, 86, of Roanoke Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009.

Mrs. Farr was a native of Blair, W. Va., the daughter of the late Clyde Clarence Estep and Carrie Thompson Estep. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Sheppard.

Mrs. Farr is survived by her daughter, Judy S. Burch and her husband, Tom, of Roanoke Rapids; two sons, Donald Sloan and his wife, Karen Gleave Sloan, of Chicago, and Dr. Greg Farr and his wife, Dr. Teresa Farr, of Sunnyvale, Texas; five grandchildren: six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Estep of Houston, Mildred Fannin of Tallahassee, Fla., and Allene Maschke of Paris, Ky.; and one brother, Lawrence Estep of Morehead, Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2, in the chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements, with the Rev. Dale Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Monday, prior to the service.
