Enfield police kept busy fighting crime

ENFIELD — Enfield Police Chief Jack Smith said his department has been busy. “It doesn’t matter how small the town is, sometimes there’s a lot going on,” he observed.

For instance, Quatze Maurice Lyons, of Batchelor Avenue, is charged with damage to real property, damage to personal property and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, the night of Oct. 5. According to Smith, Lyons was allegedly parked in front of a residence on Bell Street in a white Crown Victoria.

He left the car and began to argue with Chaheen Parker who was in a dark colored Ford Explorer parked in the yard. After an argument ensued, Lyons allegedly fired shots into the back windows of the Explorer, then left area. A friend of the victim found Officer R.L. White and informed him of the incident. He went to Bell Street to investigate.

White found Parker on the kitchen floor of the residence bleeding. He was shot in the arm. White called EMS and the victim was transported to the hospital.

White went looking for Lyons. He was picked up on Martin Luther King Avenue without incident. He was transported to Halifax County Detention Center. He was put under a $5,000 unsecured bond. He will make his first appearance in District court Nov. 4.

Sept. 10 and 11, Savalas Pittman, 28, of McDaniel Street, and Taquaurio Joyner age 22, of Watson Street  were arrested for rape, conspiracy and crime against nature respectively. Smith said allegedly, a 16-year-old female was at the Watson Street residence. She consumed some alcohol and “had sexual acts performed on her” allegedly by Pittman and Joyner, according to the police report. She was taken to Nash General where she was examined.

Both men remanded themselves to officer Randy White. Pittman was put under a $30,000 secured bond and Joyner a $25,000 secured  bond. Both are being held at the Halifax County Detention Center.

Jimmy “J-SMASH” Joyner, 20, of Watson Street also turned himself over to Detective Randy White, Sept. 8. He was charged with aiding and abetting, and conspiracy because allegedly he did not come to the aid of the victim. He was placed under a $30,000 secured bond, confined in the Halifax County Detention Facility. All three men made their first appearance in District Court Oct. 7.

Carla Domielle Armstrong, 25, of Alsop Street was charged on Oct. 9 with maintaining a dwelling for intent to sell (school II), maintaining dwelling  (school VI) and failure to appear on a previous offense after a drug raid on her home Oct. 10.  She received a $1,750 secured bond and was held in Halifax County Detention Center. She will appear in district court Dec. 2.

Iesha Lloyd, 18, of NuStreet Road is charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Lloyd was detained with no bond in the Halifax County Detention Center. She has her first appearance at Halifax District Court Dec. 2.
