One arrest, one still on the run in armed home invasion

ROANOKE RAPIDS — Police are looking for a man wanted in an armed home invasion.

Roanoke Rapids Deputy Police Chief Adam Bondarek said two black males armed with a handgun forced their way into a home on Drake Street around 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

The suspects robbed a female who was home alone, they took an undisclosed amount of money and personal items, then fled from the scene on foot.

Ronnie Lewis Harvey Jr., 25, of Roanoke Rapids, was taken into custody Monday and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree burglary, larceny and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Roanoke Rapids Detective Division executed a search warrant late Monday at Harvey’s residence where evidence was recovered from the Drake Street home invasion.

Harvey was taken to the Halifax County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond, he has a Dec. 16 court date.

The investigation remains open as the second suspect is still at large.
