Roanoke Rapids Police Capt. Andy Jackson said the break-in happened Thursday, when the suspects broke into a home on the 300 block of Washington Street.

Jackson stated items missing from the home included costume jewelry, a .22 caliber rifle and car keys were removed from the house and the car, a 2008 Ford Fuzion, was taken.

Police dispensed a lookout alert for the vehicle around 11 p.m. Thursday and Halifax County Sheriff’s Deputy M. Carrol located the car abandoned in Weldon, near M and Carolina Streets.

Some of the jewelry was recovered from the car, Jackson said.

No one was home at the time of the break-in.

This case remains open. If you have any information to aid the investigation, you are asked to call the Roanoke Rapids Police Department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
