ROANOKE RAPIDS — Mr. Edward Van Wilson, 83, of 3031 S. Highway 48, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Guardian Care in Roanoke Rapids.

Mr. Wilson was the son of the late Claud William and Clause Mitchell Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Wilson; his daughters, Connie Wilson and Gloria Hollowell; his grandson, Kenneth Bailey II; and his great-grandson, Chance Stanley.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Moore Wilson; his daughters, Jean Stanley Pilkington, Kay Bailey and Shawn (Mike) Haislip; his sons, Lynn Harris, Larry Wilson and Jimmy Wilson; his grandchildren, Boogie (Karen) Johnson, Troy (Jane) Johnson, Eddie (Sara) Wilson, Brandy Wilson, Marvin Stanley II, Nikki Stanley and fiancée, Reginald McLean, Shannon (Stevens) Hobbs, Kristopher Harris, Todd Hams, Justin Harris, Jessica Bailey, Amber Haislip, Miranda Haislip, Tammy Hollowell, Paul Hollowell Jr. and Timmy Hollowell; and his great-grandchildren, Autumn Hobbs, Krystal Stanley, Taylor Harris, Kamryn Stanley, Sarah Stanley, Gabreal Stanley, Brandon Tanner, Kaitlyn Johnson and Caleb Crawford.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., today, Nov. 17, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Greg Short officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

    " Despite the writer's need for a dictionary, sincere condolences go out to the real family who actually loved and cared for this man. The few in his life who loved him did so whole heartedly and I hope his biological children's heart heal from the pain and know that they are in thoughts and prayers. "
