Oliver Cleophus Bray

WEST POINT, Va. — Oliver Cleophus Bray, 84, of West Point, Va., died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.

He was born in Roanoke Rapids. Oliver graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a United States Navy veteran. Oliver retired from Chesapeake Corporation after 40 years of service. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Effie Woodruff Bray; his children and their spouses, Nancy and Andy Wade of Richmond, Va., Chuck and Cathy Bray of West Point, Va., Doug and Sharon Bray of Pawleys Island, S.C.; and seven grandchildren, Rebekah (Ryan) Davis, Bryan Wade, Matthew Bray, Kimberly Wade, Rachel Bray, Melissa Bray and Aaron Bray.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20, at Vincent Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 417 11th Street, West Point, which is handling the arrangements.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at West Point United Methodist Church, 1020 Main St., West Point. Burial will follow in Sunny Slope Cemetery.
