Lydia Hood (Moebes)

LITTLETON — Lydia Hood (Moebes) passed away at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

Lydia was born May 25, 1929, in Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of Wilfred and Josephine Sahaeffler, and was retired from Grumman Aerospace.

Mrs. Hood moved to Lake Gaston just outside Littleton approximately 20 years ago, so she could enjoy the country life and be close to her friends from New York, the Luisis, who hailed from Long Island.

Lydia is survived by her daughter, Joyce A. Horne and her fiancé, Jack Felice, of Roanoke Rapids; her son, Edward B. Moebes Jr. and his lady, Charmaine Friedline, of Norfolk, Va.; and her granddaughter, Suzann Moebes of Virginia Beach, Va.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Littleton, which is handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorial donations may be given to the Long Bridge Volunteer Fire Department Lady’s Auxiliary, 1678 Eaton Ferry Road, Littleton NC 27850.
