We used to celebrate the Christmas holiday. Now, according to the White House, we will celebrate the Holiday holiday. Christmas has been eliminated from their house. No religious decorations. There will be a Holiday tree. This after being told by Mr. Obama we are not a Christian nation. We actually are a Christian nation which allows believers of all other religions to celebrate their beliefs in freedom. This is as bad as Senator Harry Reid, chief jock in the Senate, telling us to make English our national language would be racist. We are a country where English is the official language and where all other languages are free to be used, but where it is smart for any non-English speaking person to learn our language so they can communicate with the very large majority who do. I, for one, am getting tired of being told what I am not. A lot of people have died so we can celebrate our uniqueness as a nation and I am sick of those who don't seem to be proud of our country. If you don't like what we do here then go back where you came from ... you will miss those freedoms. If this offends you, tough. 

Government may be needed

To the person talking about the government’s role: I get Social Security and I like that. I get Medicare and I like that. I had to get supplemental health insurance and I have had three increases in that in this past year. I just got a letter saying it was going to increase on Jan. 1 … That’s run by private insurance and I wonder where it is going to stop. If private insurance can’t run the business, then the government does need to step in.

Rely on The Almighty

Instead of worrying about Obama, you should get on your knees and pray because everything comes from God … Don’t depend on man, depend on God.

Disability

To those who don’t think depression is a disease and people suffering from it shouldn’t have disability: Depression is a disease just like alcoholism and drug addiction. Those people can go in get disability. Depression is a disease and it can be diagnosed by a doctor … They deserve disability, too.

Parents’ role?

Why don’t the parents have a say about who the principals are in Halifax County schools?

Quit gossiping

I  am fed up with people who profess Christianity and then they talk in front of their children … and then children speak the truth … People are saying these people are nasty because they have a few things in their yard. Did it every come to their mind that maybe these people are disabled and they don’t have anyone to help them clean up their yard? If people would get back to the way the Bible says — help your neighbor and don’t gossip — we would be better off.

Stamp out immorality

In addition to the importance of parents’ involvement in the direction of their children for the development of their minds and their learning, it is important we get rid of the immorality that is being promoted in the schools and by the laws. We should not tolerate bad behavior by children and adults, as is now the case in our society.
