Police received an anonymous phone call Friday around 9 a.m. about a possible unregistered sex offender picking up a friend’s child at an area school, Roanoke Rapids Police Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek told The Daily Herald.

Bondarek said an investigation revealed the call to be accurate and the man was confirmed as being wanted for failure to register as a sex offender in Halifax County where he has established residency and is required to report his address to police authorities.

Bondarek stated a warrant was served at the suspect’s Franklin Street residence by the Roanoke Rapids Police “A” Squad and the Criminal Investigation Division, K-9 officer Zeusa also assisted at the scene.

Anthony Jamison, 31, of Roanoke Rapids, has been charged with failure to register and the second charge is sex offender on premises where children attend.

Jamison was jailed on a $30,000 secured bond at the Halifax County Detention Center and has a court date of Dec. 16.

According to police reports and the North Carolina Department of Correction (NCDOC) Web site, Jamison was released from prison in October of 2008 for serving a sentence for sex offenses and serious assaults. Also on the NCDOC site, his current location is marked as unknown.

" I agree with A Victim 100 % They should pass a law to castrate all convicted sex offenders and all child molesters. It's the only way to make them be punished for there crimes snd make others think twice what would hapen to them if they choose that path. "

" This probably won't be posted but I do have a right to my opinion. I wish a law would be passed to castrate all convicted sex offenders and most importantly all child molesters. If this law were passed they probably would not need to register. The only exception made would be statuatory rape that is consensual. "
