What to do?

Afghanistan, Afghanistan, what’s a president to do? All his options are bad ones. Raise the troop levels and give the Taliban a run for it’s money? For what? To support a corrupt aristocracy? Bad idea. So should he keep the troop levels the same? That just places the soldiers already there in harm’s way and for no good purpose whatsoever. So, should Obama withdraw? Then after the Taliban wins, al Qaeda will be free to set up shop and plot. You can be sure Obama will be blamed for anything they do and called a coward for running away from a fight. The people taunting Obama will be the same crowd currently faulting him for supporting a nation that won’t lift a finger to help itself. It’s clear why the Republicans sent up Mr. Three-Time Loser and Lipstick Queen into that dog-of-a-fight in 2008. The winner gets to drown cleaning up various Bush-era quagmires, while everyone else stands aside and watches.

Charter in the right?

As egregious as it seems on Charter’s behalf, they were right in the protection of privacy to their customer. The police department is very competent and have cracked many cases on their own, so I'm sure they can solve this one, too. There is nothing more sacred than protecting our privacy, rather it be our medical records, or federal commucations records (cell phone, telecable).

Don’t leave it to the government

Regarding the commentary from Bob and Walt Wick, owners of The Daily Herald: Take a look at how the government is running the H1N1 flu shots. See the long lines? See the absence of shots available? Do they (the Wicks) not see the problems coming? That’s what will happen when government takes over health care. They must be pretty naive people to think the government doesn’t have to make a profit or complete all the paperwork the private insurers have, won’t make the private insurers go out of business. And a lot of people will lose jobs. One final thought, if your like he way the post office is run, if you like what the governor is doing with Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and the flu shots ... you’ll love health care.

Thanks to the police

I would like to thank the Roanoke Rapids Police Department for patrolling our neighborhood.

What would they do?

Since I am a Charter customer, if I broke one of their windows would they not report me to police?

Beale vote

I beg to disagree ... Drewery Beale got exactly what he deserved ...

Wake up

Please, people wake up and realize what is going on with your government right now ... Call our senators and let them know you are against what is going on with health care right now.

Register as independent or GOP

I am asking every registered Democrat who is fed up with what is going on in Washington, D.C., and who is unhappy with health care reform and the horrendous deficits our president is rolling up, to drop their registration as Democrats and become independents or Republicans ... Maybe this will get their attention.

 Third party please

I think it is about time to form a third party in this country. There have to be people in this country who have brains that function. Brains that know that the far left, Democrats like Pelosi, and far right, Republicans like Boehner, are not the answer. There has to be something in the middle which benefits the many rather then the few. This health bill is a good example. The fine print in this bill will ruin many lives and give the federal government power it was never meant to have. When a bill meant to reform a system takes 2,000 pages, which they are giving you 72 hours to review, still does not reform the “problem” something is wrong. Time for a new approach to destroying this country.
