The “T’was the night before the Christmas Parade, Celebration on the Avenue” will have several activities for children and adults.

The Roanoke Avenue Business is partnering with Widow’s Son Masonic Lodge No. 519, the sponsors of this year’s parade, in planning this special event from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, the eve of the parade.

The activities of the pre-parade day include a fashion show, a cup of tea with Mrs. Claus, caroling on The Avenue, Christmas around the world and much more.

Roanoke Avenue Business Alliance (RABA) is asking businesses to extend their hours and contribute to setting up a small store just for youngsters to visit and purchase a small gift for their parents, grandparents or teachers. RABA will provide gift wrapping for the children. All the gifts are tax deductible and the children will be able to purchase any of the gifts for $1 with all proceeds will going to the Main Street Program.

On Saturday, the Christmas parade judges will be visiting each storefront that is decorated and give an award for the best windows. Any business or employee interested in participating is invited to call 535-5006 or drop by Timeless Tea with your gift donation.

The parade line-up begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, and steps off down Roanoke Avenue at 2 p.m.
