Roy Eugene ‘Gene’ Pierce Jr.

VAUGHAN — Roy Eugene “Gene” Pierce Jr., 63, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Roy E. and Myrtice Harriss Pierce.

Mr. Pierce was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Calvary Baptist Senior Saints. He worked at JP Stevens/ Westpoint Stevens for 34 years and was a retired member of the Warren County Rescue Squad. He was employed as a truck driver by Swing Transport of Manson.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife, Lynne M. Pierce; four children, Helen P. Eure and her husband, Dane, Sallie P. Eure and her husband, Andy, Beth P. Duncan and her husband, Rob, and Roy E. Pierce III and his wife, Kendra; his sister, Dr. Anne Pierce and her husband, Dr. John Henry; and six grandchildren, Dylan and Dalton Eure, Sarah Grace Eure, Gavin and Griffin Duncan and Raleigh Pierce.

The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Nov. 24, at Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids. Pastor Randy Martin and Pastor John Alford officiated. Burial followed in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Littleton.

Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1405 Bolling Road, Roanoke Rapids NC 27870 or to the Warren County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 448, Littleton NC 27850.
