Grady Harris Kidd

ROANOKE RAPIDS — Grady Harris Kidd, 93, of 921 Cleveland St., Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Kidd served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theatre. He retired from J.P. Stevens after 40 years and worked 13 years with the City of Roanoke Rapids. Mr. Kidd was also an avid gardener.

He was born March 11, 1916, to the late John and Mary Kidd, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna J. Kidd; his son, Ronnie Kidd; and nine brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah McDaniel, of Roanoke Rapids; his brother, Sam Kidd, of Lawrenceville, Va.; his grandchildren, Mike Kidd (Hope), Nicole Turner, Blake Danielle Kidd, Alan Kidd; his great-grandchildren, Brianna L. Turner, Matthew A. Turner, Samantha and Krista Powell; his special son-in-law, Jerry McDaniel; and special daughter-in-law, Kim Kidd.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, at Crestview Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Smith officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
