ROANOKE RAPIDS — Mr. Roy Rudolph Perry, 64, of 1755 Highway 158, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Perry was a member of South Rosemary Baptist Church and a member of AMVETS. He served in the U.S. Army. He loved his family, loved cooking chickens, making his barbecue sauce and working with the church and the AMVETS. Roy also loved his cats.

He was born July 28, 1945, to the late Rudolph Wayne Perry and Esther Marie Hobbs Perry.

He is survived by his wife, Alice L. Perry; a stepson, Randy Turner Jr. and his wife, Michelle; a stepdaughter, Glenda Browder and her husband, Gary, of Roanoke Rapids; a brother, Lemuel Perry and his wife, Lisa, of Stantonsburg; a sister, Mary Barnhill and her husband, Billy, of Stantonsburg; his grandchildren, Robbie and Randall Turner, Doniphan Browder and his wife, Erica, and Travis Browder; and his great-grandchildren, Caleb, Morgan, Natalie Browder.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 7, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, at South Rosemary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy King officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
