Lock them up

It is time to lock Congress in their respective chambers in the Capitol building. Yes, I said lock the doors with them inside and tell them it get something done. Health care? Lock them in until they have a bill that is acceptable. Bathroom privileges with an escort so that they cannot talk to anyone else while outside the chamber. Food will be brought into the chamber. No showers until they are finished. This continuous no nothing stuff has got to stop. Social Security discussions have gone on for 30 years. Accomplishments? Nothing! Lock them up until they accomplish something. And put it all on C-Span for transparency.

Forced reduction

Perhaps to reduce the federal monster budget, every government agency should be given 5 percent less. All people getting their income from the government takes a 5 percent cut. This means everyone — Social Security, food stamps, welfare, federal support programs, Medicare, Medicaid.  If we don't force Congress to first reduce and then eliminate the deficit the reduction in benefits will be far more severe then 5 percent. Freeze these figures for three years. If you think this is too severe then don't do it and you will see what severe is. Then force the government to use accounting procedures that you and I use everyday. A normal system that would show exactly where the money is going. Troop support stays the same because their lives are on the line. But if we don't do something drastic it will be our lives on the line.

Good job

Good coverage on the Super Bowl and nice article on hockey … I

live on Raleigh Drive and I would like to thank the carrier who brings our paper to our porch even in the snow.

Fix the sign

While we are revitalizing the theater can someone fix the lights on the sign out front?

Program for all

I applaud the Halifax Community College salute to local African American heroes …  Are they going to do the same for our local non-African American heroes. If not, why not?
