The investigation is ongoing and Roanoke Rapids police say they are ready to assist that investigation.

Kevin Ricks, a 1978 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, was arrested in February after allegations surfaced in Manassas that he was having inappropriate sexual contact with a teenage boy, according to a report by the Washington Post. (You can read the full report by logging onto www.washingtonpost.com, type Roanoke Rapids NC in the search window and hit return. Click on the report titled, “Lurking in the schools.”)

Federal authorities are investigating Ricks; the investigation includes allegations of sexual abuse by Ricks in North Carolina, according to the report.

Roanoke Rapids police have been contacted, but so far have no official investigation of their own.“There are no local cases we’re investigating,” said Police Chief Jeff Hinton.

“They (the authorities investigating Ricks) have contacted us ... we will be prepared to assist them in any way.”
