Man charged in sex crimes involving a minor

HALIFAX — A Roanoke Rapids man is under a $250,000 bond after being charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor and first degree sex offense with a 12-year old child, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

After an investigation conducted by Detective Roy Rooks, he said Willie James Rosser, 49, of Roanoke Rapids, was confined to the Halifax County Detention Center July 18 for the crimes and has a court date of Sept. 15.

The Sheriff’s Office said the child was related to Rosser.
