Weldon Police are investigating a robbery of the Basic Law Enforcement Training armory at Halifax Community College.

According to Weldon Police Chief Mark Macon, someone broke into the BLET armory at some point over the weekend, between Friday and Monday. The break-in was reported on Monday.

“They stole some guns,” Macon stated. “We have some leads, but we don’t have any specific persons of interest we have identified.”

Macon added the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is involved in the case, and his department has gathered evidence. “We have some evidence being sent to the lab,” Macon said.

Weldon Police are urging the community to alert officials if they encounter anyone trying to sell a firearm on the street. “It may be one of the stolen guns,” Macon said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Weldon Police at 252-536-3136 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
