Miss Flythe becomes the bride of John Phillip DeLoatch

Ashley Rebecca Flythe and John Phillip DeLoatch, both of Conway, exchanged wedding vows during a 4 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Rehoboth United Methodist Church outside of Jackson.

The bride is the daughter of Blake and Melinda Flythe of Conway. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gurney Braswell of Rich Square and Mrs. Doris Flythe and the late Leon Flythe of Milwaukee.

The bridegroom is the son of Phil and Debbie DeLoatch of Conway. He is the grandson of Mrs. Joyce DeLoatch and the late Bernard DeLoatch of Conway and the late Elbert and Lucy Bowen of Woodland.

The Rev. Willie McLawhorn of Conway Baptist Church, who also married the bride’s parents, performed the nuptial ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by vocalists Lisa Wheeler of Potecasi and David Hasty Jr. of Conway, and pianist Mrs. Betty Willis of Littleton.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length satin halter A-line gown with beaded lace appliqué and cut-out-lace hem that flowed into a beaded chapel-length train. For her headpiece, the bride chose a tiara adorned with pearls and an elbow-length two tiered veil with a scalloped pencil edge embedded with pearls and crystals. She carried a bouquet of hand tied star gazer lilies with greens designed by Flowers by Wayne of Jackson.

Miss Camren Flythe of Conway, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Polly Drake of Conway, Mrs. Ashley Turner of Sedley, Va., Miss Jo Anne Beale of Conway and Miss Leslie Hargrave of Greenville. Serving as junior bridesmaid was Miss Taylor Houston of Matthews.

Miss Riley Russell of Kill Devil Hills served as flower girl and carried a white satin basket with pearl handles. Mr. Clay Houston of Matthews served as ring bearer and carried a white satin pillow with a white taffeta bow.

Mr. Phil DeLoatch served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Dustin DeLoatch of Conway, brother of the bridegroom, Mr. Chris Harrell of Jackson, Mr. Justin Burgess of Conway, Mr. Jason Martin of Woodland, Mr. Matt Mann of Greenville and Mr. Devin Drake of Conway.

Mrs. Sandra Boone and Mrs. Cathy Hatcher, aunts of the bride, served as mistresses of ceremonies. Tommy and Connie Hargrave of Garysburg served as program and guest book attendants.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Northeast Academy and a 2007 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The bridegroom is also a 2003 graduate of Northeast Academy and a 2009 graduate of East Carolina University with a Master’s in Geological Sciences with a thesis in Hydrogeology.

After a honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico at the El Dorado Royale and Spa Resort, the couple will reside in Conway.


 A reception was held immediately following the wedding at the Valley Pine County Club in Lasker with music provided by DJ Robert Dilday.


On the eve of the wedding an after-rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom’s parents in the church fellowship hall.


 Bachlorette and bachelor parties were held for the couple June 27-28. The events were hosted by the bridesmaids and groomsmen, with the bride and bridesmaids celebrating at the Outer Banks and bridegroom and groomsmen celebrating in Wilmington.

On June 17, Mrs. Linda Boone, Mrs. Ann Cox, Mrs. Kay Futrell, and Mrs. Dawn Leseney hosted a whole home shower in the Rehoboth United Methodist Fellowship Hall.


Devin and Polly Drake, Leigh Ann and Jason Martin, Crystal Sumner and Matt Mann gave the couple a pig picking on June 13, with live music by The Willie Peebles Band at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Devin Dr


On May 16, Mrs. Carla Stephenson, Mrs. Connie Hargrave and Mrs. Rachel Barnes hosted a kitchen/recipe brunch at The Commons in Murfreesboro.


Mrs. Sandra Boone, Mrs. Cathy Hatcher, Mrs. Doris Flythe and Mrs. Susan Taylor gave the bride a miscellaneous shower on May 3 at Zion United Methodist Church.


On April 25, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Flythe, Mr. and Mrs. James Hatcher, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Flythe, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Wheeler, Mrs. Kay Flythe, Mrs. Rachel Barnes and Mr. Bobby Capel hosted a lawn and garden/engagement cookout for friends and family of the bride and bridegroom at the Bethany Civic Center.
