HALIFAX — Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp told The Daily Herald tonight that investigators have charged a second man with murder in connection to the shooting death of Weldon 15-year-old Keyuon T. Garner and the attempted murder of two others.

Tripp said law enforcement officials are searching for 18-year-old Weldon resident Teddy Keith Anderson Jr., who the sheriff said should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding Anderson's whereabouts is asked to contact the Halifax County Sheriff's Office at 252-583-8201, Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or the Weldon Police Department at 252-536-3136.

The charges come just hours after Tripp announced at a press conference Thursday  afternoon 19-year-old Garysburg resident Samaj Tojuan Clanton had been arrested and charged with one count of murder in connection to the death of the Weldon teen.

Clanton also faces two counts of attempted murder in the first degree, the sheriff said.

Sheriff’s officials picked up Clanton in an undisclosed location Thursday morning about 10 a.m. and took him to the Sheriff’s Office, Tripp said. Clanton is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court sometime Friday morning.

The deceased male, Keyuon T. Garner, 15, of Weldon, was walking down the 11th Street near Maple Street Extension when suspects stepped out of some nearby woods and started shooting. Tripp said Garner was dead at the scene.

Clanton is also accused of shooting two other people, Wilson Green, 17, of Weldon, shot in the leg, and Calvin Robinson, 20, of Halifax, shot in the back. Tripp said both men were treated and released at a local medical facility.

The case continues to be investigated and at least one more suspect is being sought, according to Tripp. The sheriff added he is still working closely with Weldon Police Chief Mark Macon on the murder of a 2-year-old girl reported at 12:33 a.m. Tuesday, at a Weldon residents. Both lawmen have said they believe these two cases are related.
