A Halifax County gang member was arrested with more than 100 grams of marijuana following a multi-month investigation, authorities said.
Narcotics Agent J.A. Puhak, of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, said narcotics agents executed a search warrant at 413 Southeast Railroad St. in Enfield Thursday – the court order was the culmination of a multi-month investigation regarding complaints of narcotic and gang activity, Puhak said in a release today.
According to Puhak, Donald Lashard Crews, 23, was arrested for felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Crews was found to be in possession of more than 100 grams of marijuana, a firearm and documents claiming his allegiance to an undisclosed gang, Puhak said.
Crews was assigned an April 4 court date and jailed under a $2,000 secured bond. He has since posted bond and been released.
“The execution of this search warrant was a combined effort from members of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, Detectives Division and Uniformed Division,” Puhak said.
