SEABOARD — A Garysburg man is facing statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child charges after the young victim told her parents.
Corey Maurice Boone, 40, appeared in court Thursday after he was arrested Sept. 22 by Sea-board Police.
Sea-board Police Chief George Reed said the victim, who is under the age of 15, talked to her parents about what had happened. Allegedly, there were three incidents that happened within the last year.
“(Sept. 17) the parents came into my office,” Reed said. “They wanted justice.”
An investigation revealed the allegations had taken place, Reed said.
Physically, the victim is doing okay, he said.
Boone was a friend of the family.
“He was no stranger,” Reed said. “He knew the family.”
Boone was arrested and charged with three counts of statutory rape and three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. He was taken to the Northampton County Detention Center where he was placed under a $100,000 secured bond.
