Hinton said officers found “a 9mm handgun located under the driver’s seat and a 45-caliber handgun was found under the passenger seat of the suspicious vehicle,” he added, “one of the weapons appeared to recently have been fired.”
The driver of the vehicle was Jermaine Hale, 23, of Roanoke Rapids. Hale was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Also arrested was Markus Burgess, of Roanoke Rapids. He was charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits and carrying a concealed weapon.
Hale and Burgess were under a $4,000 bond each and have an Aug. 28 court date.
