Thursday, March 18, 2010 5:32 PM EDTLITTLETON - Maurice Wilmer Emery, 66, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at Durham Regional Medical Center. Mr. Emery was born Oct. 7, 1943, in Wyandotte, Mich., to the late Maurice and Irene Flower Emery. Maurice graduated from Melvindale High School in Melvindale, Mich., and served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. He also started the first Lake Gaston Gazette on Nov. 2, 1992, and sold it in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Kay E. Emery, of the home; a son, Maurice II; a stepdaughter, Debbie and son-in-law, Mark; grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica; and five sisters, Beverly Emery, June Lenaway, Maueen Magy and her husband, John, Pamela Houston and Kathy Emery. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Littleton, which is handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 425, 695 Weavers Chapel Road, Littleton.

Thursday, March 18, 2010 5:41 PM EDTLITTLETON - Mr. Larry Wade Vincent, 62, of 322 Mosby Ave., Littleton, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids. Larry was born in Halifax County, the son of the late Bennie Bryant Vincent and Stella Mae Barnes Vincent. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Master’s in Nuclear Engineering. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1990, with the rank of Lieutenant Commander, after servicing 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Judy Allen Vincent, of Florida; a daughter, Christina L. Vincent, of Lawrence, N.J.; a sister, Virginia Bishop, of Roanoke Rapids; five brothers, Bennie Ray Vincent, of Collegedale, Tenn., Allen Wayne Vaughan, of Kelford, Shelby Gene Vaughan, of Rockingham, James Vaughan Jr., of Rich Square, and Ronnie Marshall Vincent, of Douglasville, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Nicole Evans of Lawrence. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, March 17, at Wrenn, Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements. Funeral services will be held at noon, Thursday, March 18, in the chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Daniel Bran officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
